History

Downtown Bloomington

A cornerstone of the Bloomington community, the Trojan Horse has operated at the corner of Kirkwood and Walnut since 1978. As you stroll down Kirkwood, our public-view kitchen provides a mouth watering temptation as you see our Gyros meat being cooked and sliced fresh.

Inside the Trojan Horse, you’ll find the delicious aromas combine with a friendly, neighborhood atmosphere to give you that “we’re glad you’re here” feeling. You’ll also find a sense of community. We proudly support local programs and charities and believe that our efforts are rewarded with a better quality of life for all.

Bon Appétit Magazine has highlighted the Trojan Horse on two separate occasions. In 1996, Diet Watch editor Anthony Head, raved about the best falafels in all the land being served by the Trojan Horse. In September of 2002, the Trojan Horse was listed as one of only two restaurants in Indiana named as Great Neighborhood Places. We proudly display both of these honors upstairs in our Horse's Head Tavern.

Honors such as these make us proud. But, more importantly to us are the comments from our very loyal clientele, our friends, who are always gracious in telling us they love the food, the service and being part of our neighborhood for the past thirty years.
